Remarkable Journey to DCWC Hospital: A Tale of Determination and Medical Expertise
Mrs. Binita Magar, a pregnant woman residing in Ward No. 4 of Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality, Passeban, found herself in a challenging situation due to the arduous journey required to reach the hospital for her delivery. The journey from Passeban to the hospital was fraught with difficulties, and it is noteworthy to mention that the travel time by ambulance took approximately three hours, while covering the same distance on foot required a staggering five to six hours to complete. Unfortunately, due to heavy rainfall and poor road conditions, the ambulance was unable to access her location, necessitating the assistance of 20-25 individuals who collectively carried the patient halfway to the hospital, employing a stretcher for this purpose. This effort consumed an additional five hours before reaching a point where the ambulance could finally take over. The transfer to the hospital, at this juncture, consumed an additional two hours and took place in the middle of the night, specifically at 3 o'clock.
Upon closer examination of the situation, it was determined that the baby had been born at 6 o'clock in the evening. However, a concerning issue arose as the placenta had become retained for approximately nine hours. Intriguingly, a stone had been attached to the placenta due to a superstitious belief that this would prevent the placental tip from entering the uterus, making removal more challenging. After a thorough assessment, medical personnel were able to successfully detach the placenta, following which both mother and baby were closely monitored at the hospital for a duration of approximately 24 hours. It was subsequently decided that they were in stable condition and could be discharged following this observation period.
In closing, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated doctors and medical staff at DCWC Hospital for their exceptional care and expertise in handling this complex situation, ensuring the well-being of both mother and baby throughout this challenging ordeal
